When Orkut was launched, it was really a huge and popular social networking website in India, Brazil and other parts of the world. Though, as years passed we have seen a decrease in Orkut’s popularity. Have you ever thought that what could be the reason? The reason for this was facebook app. Though, Facebook was launched in feb 2004 but it didn’t received that much attention from the people in Brazil/India and other Non-US countries. People didn’t even know if there is any social networking site named “Facebook”. But suddenly it has started a new feature which did not exist in orkut and it was Facebook App where people could come and play the games either single or multiplayer. It has simplified the user friendliness and given a new platform to connect shares and play to the users. It is always true that if a user finds a better place to surf, he moves on from your page. Same happened with orkut. In the year 2008 facebook has started its promotional activities in other countries because they knew that it will not be possible for them to come in universal market until they don’t come up with new features and marketing strategy. So here are the results.
